As the Program Director for the Upper Midwest Telehealth Resource Center (UMTRC), Becky works with UMTRC consortium partners to provide a single point of contact for telehealth resources throughout the states of Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan.
The resource center provides educational presentations, individualized technical assistance, facilitation, and connections to telehealth information via the website and program staff.
Prior to her current positions, Becky Sanders served the Indiana Rural Health Association in the role of Indiana Telehealth Network (ITN) Director. The ITN was created as part of the Federal Communications Commission’s Rural Health Care Pilot Program (FCC RHCPP). Creating the ITN required key stakeholders to objectively score Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for the construction of high-speed fiber-optic broadband lines to rural hospitals and healthcare facilities around the state of Indiana. The internet and dedicated transport services that connect the ITN members provides a robust foundation for the exchange of healthcare data and telehealth in the state.
Ms. Sanders has been with the IRHA since 2008. She has a Lean Healthcare Black Belt Certification from Purdue Healthcare Advisors and is a National Rural Health Association Fellow. Becky previously worked in telecommunications at the National Exchange Carrier Association (NECA), where she held various positions in their Chicago, Illinois, and Whippany, New Jersey offices. Ms. Sanders received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana State University and a Masters of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University.
