Joe Schaffner is the Assistant Director of Outreach for the South Central Telehealth Resource Center (SCTRC) located at the Institute for Digital Health & Innovation within the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is currently responsible for virtual events, building relationships, providing guidance and education, and promoting services as related to the SCTRC and telehealth in general. Joe also is responsible for the SCTRC’s social media strategies and other technical and creative writing projects.
Joe has two Bachelor of Art degrees and a Master in Public Administration degree from UALR. Prior to working at the SCTRC, Joe worked for nearly 15 years in the public health sector at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Little Rock Wastewater, and the Arkansas Department of Human Services. At each of these organizations, Joe took advantage of numerous opportunities for growth and development in all areas under the outreach umbrella: communications, public speaking, media, event coordination, coalition building, community engagement, and graphic design.
For his efforts, Joe has won three international awards and several local and national awards for a number of creative projects and public health programs. Joe co-authored and illustrated a book on the topic of hot car safety that earned an International Safety Media Award in Bangkok, Thailand.
Joe and his wife Jennifer have been married for 15 years and have three children together: Jude, Jolie, and Jonah.
